PRINCIPAL

Dr. R. Durai Pandian is an accomplished academic and visionary leader, currently serving as the Principal of Saveetha School of Management (SSM), Saveetha University, Chennai. With over 26 years of teaching and research experience and 7 years of managerial expertise in the Hospitality Services, he exemplifies a unique blend of academic rigor and professional excellence.

Dr. Pandian’s academic journey began in 1998, where he held pivotal roles such as Junior Research Fellow, Alagappa Institute of Management, Alagappa University and Lecturer, Senior Lecturer (SG), and Asst. Professor at Karunya School of Management, Coimbatore. He further advanced his career as Professor & Head of the Department of Management Studies & Research Centre at PESIT Bangalore South Campus, PES University, Bangalore, from 2007 to 2019. From 2019 to 2022, he served as Professor & Head (Research) at the School of Commerce & Management, Garden City University, Bangalore.

Dr. Pandian’s academic qualifications include a Ph.D. from Alagappa Institute of Management, Alagappa University, where he was the first full-time doctoral graduate of the institute, and an MBA from Manipal University. His pursuit of excellence is evident in his completion of prestigious Faculty Development Programmes (FDPM) at IIM Ahmedabad, IIM Kozhikode, and IIM Indore, alongside a one-month Research Fellowship Program at the Entrepreneurship Development Institute of India (EDII), Ahmedabad. Additionally, his leadership skills are reflected in his NCC “C” Certificate (1993 batch).

Dr. Pandian has demonstrated exceptional guidance in academic research, having supervised more than 500 postgraduate projects and guided 7 completed Ph.D. theses. He has participated in over 25 Faculty Development Programs (FDPs) and workshops, published 55 research papers (35 in international journals and 20 in national journals), and presented 45 papers at various conferences. His contributions to intellectual property include 5 approved copyrights by the Government of India and 2 patents currently in process.

Dr. Pandian has made substantial contributions to academia, specializing in Finance, Entrepreneurship, and Information Systems with significant contributions to academia through mentoring doctoral candidates, organizing impactful workshops, and publishing groundbreaking research. His teaching portfolio spans advanced topics such as statistical tools, modelling techniques, and research methodologies, ensuring students receive comprehensive theoretical and practical knowledge.

A recipient of multiple awards and accolades, Dr. Pandian’s dedication to education is complemented by his personal interests in historical exploration and sustainable agriculture. His passion for organic farming highlights his commitment to fostering holistic and sustainable development.

Through his dynamic leadership, Dr. Durai Pandian continues to guide Saveetha School of Management toward academic excellence, fostering innovation, research, and leadership in aspiring professionals.
